E.ON facilitates Denmark's largest charging site
Leap forward in electric transport sector
In November 2021, Denmark's largest charging site opened in Bagsværd, where E.ON manages the charging and Umove operates the buses. The installation was handled by GodEnergi.

The large charging site consists of 33 lightning chargers of 150 kW each, which can charge two electric buses simultaneously in three to six hours. With the new charging hub, electric bus operation is ensured for 66 buses in Greater Copenhagen. Umove, E.ON and GodEnergi's investment is a big step on the way to electrifying the buses in Greater Copenhagen.
Charging network for electric trucks on its way
With the new charging site, E.ON has seriously focused on the supply and operation of lightning chargers for the transport sector, where the next step will be electric heavy-duty trucks (e-trucks). It’s expected that within a relatively short number of years there will be a need for far more charging hubs of this type, also along the motorway network for future electric truck traffic.
Electric cars have really entered the scene in 2021 among ordinary Danes. But electric buses are just as well on their way in the Danish cities, because players like Umove are leading the way and switching to electricity,“ says Pär Möller, Nordic Director of eMobility at E.ON. “In the course of two to three years, we will really see the electrification of commercial, heavy-duty truck traffic. And when that happens, it will go much faster than with electric passenger cars, because the economic and environmental incentive is so much greater for the transport industry.
Drivers happy with their electric buses
One of the most important parameters for the charging system is operational reliability. The buses will typically be able to charge at night, but there will also be a need for charging during the day for certain lines.
"We are proud to be the bus operator in the country that put electric buses into operation on a large scale in Roskilde. For us as a company, it has been a great success, and our drivers are very happy with the electric buses. That is why we are also happy that we are now mustering the country's largest electric fleet and charging facilities," says Johnny Hansen from Umove."
